Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial was officially opened by Dato 'Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia on 10 November 1994. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial was established as a memorial and tribute contributions fondly and Tunku as the "Father of Independence" and the first Prime Minister of Malaysia (1957-1970). Memorial displays all related legacy of Tunku various materials such as documents, pictures, awards, newspaper articles, clothes and furniture. There is also a theater audiovisual on Tunku Abdul Rahman.
All materials displayed at the Memorial Tunku Abdul Rahman is based on specific themes for visitors to know Tunku personally. Among the themes are Tunku and Freedom, Philosophy / Concept Tunku and Tunku Abdul Rahman's Biography. Apart from that included in the exhibition is the Old Office Building, Tunku Abdul Rahman when he became Prime Minister. Visitors can also see the building occupied by the Tunku Residency from 1956 to 1970. Residency Building is the attraction to visitors as the building is 100 years old is still retained its original shape and position of the internal layout. There are exhibits on the outside where the most interesting is a 1959 Fleetwood Cardillac car used by the Tunku. Library facilities and gift shop are also available.
